Bangladesh, what happened?
Have you forgotten
when you stood in the teeth of barbarians,
when your dignity and decency were stripped away?

Have you forgotten
the long, merciless wait for freedom —
the rivers of blood,
the fields of silence,
the cries the world chose not to hear —
until the intervention of late Indiraji,
when a wounded nation finally breathed,
when suffering was turned into hope,
and despair learned the language of dawn?

And now…
you too have turned barbaric.
You too have burned alive the lives of your own citizens.

What happened to you, Bangladesh?

This is not ignorance.
This is amnesia worn as pride.
You escaped barbarism —
only to choose to become it.

Has history ever witnessed a fall so low? 

 Very horrible.
